Village Ordinance Officer’s Contract Renewed
The Callaway Village Board met on Tuesday, April 12 and representatives of Sons of the American Legion were present to fill the board in on the Legion’s latest project. They were requesting funds from the Village to purchase a new flag - a very large flag - which will be flown at the cemetery. That flag should be up within the next two or three weeks.
That is just one of a few exciting projects happening in Callaway. The Village has applied for a grant to complete a study on a new pool, and they were informed that the grant was approved in the amount of $30,000. The grant will fund the study and design for the pool.
The board also renewed Village Ordinance Officer Lawrence Stump’s contract for the next six months. Along with making contacts with property owners regarding clean up, Stump will also be putting together recommendations for Village ordinances regarding ATV, UTV and golf cart safety policies and guidelines.
The board adjourned into executive session for a personnel review. Village Clerk Lori Bonde has been on the job for six months now, and the review was just standard procedure. The board did express their gratitude to Bonde and gave her a very positive review. In order to help make her life a little easier a new software system has been added to the office.
