The Callaway Community Foundation exists solely to promote the Callaway community by supporting projects and individuals that exemplify the unique qualities of this town. A group of volunteers who make up the foundation’s board meet monthly to come up with ideas on how to do that, and ideas for raising the funds needed to accomplish those goals.

The biggest fundraiser of the year for the Foundation is the Gala, which this year was held on Feb. 10. The Foundation board utilizes funds raised at the Gala and from donations to help fund various community projects. They also award grants each Spring to local organizations and entities who provide services for residents in and around Callaway.

At the April 24, 2024, Foundation board meeting the following grants were approved: * Callaway Public Schools Family Consumer Science – “Real Baby” Project – awarded $1,000 * Callaway Public Schools Band program – Bass Clarinet – awarded $1,000 * Callaway Chamber of Commerce – Pioneer Picnic Games – awarded $1,200 * Seven Valleys Senior Center – A/C Project - awarded $4,172 * Total grants awarded: $7,372 The Callaway Community Foundation board consists of Corby Leeper (President), Christie Pitkin (Vice-President), Kate Carlson (Treasurer), Michael Reiff (Secretary), Henry Moore, Jenn Hickenbottom, Carla Kimball, Levi Griffith, and Lucy Kimball.

Cash donations are not the only option for giving to the Foundation. “You can do cattle, grain sold at the elevator, you can bequeath a life insurance policy or use a distribution from a retirement fund, or you can always remember us when considering a memorial,” explained board member Christie Pitkin.

The Foundation also applied for a tax credit for donors which was approved through Oct. 31, 2024. Through the Community Development Assistance Act program donations of $5,000 or more will get a 40% tax credit. The Foundation is allowed to participate in the program for three years.
