Body

The American Legion Auxiliary monthly meeting was called to order at 5 p.m. at the Callaway Legion Hall on Nov. 20. Our meeting was called to order by our President Shirley Trout.

Joyce Brestel read the prayer and we then said the Pledge of Allegiance, sang the Star Spangled Banner, and recited the Auxiliary Preamble. We did not have the minutes of our last meeting. MaryAnn Boldt read the financial report that showed our expenses and income for this last month which gave us a balance of $7,651.36.

We discussed sending a thank you note to the school for allowing us to perform our Veterans Program to honor the Veterans in our community. We also would like to send a thank you note to Lawrence Paulsen for the donation of hot dogs and buns and also for the water he donated to the Kids Carnival. Thank you so much for this donations program.

Jo Chesley ordered the treats for the Trunk or Treating on Halloween. Cora motioned we pay Jo for her expenses; Shirley and Mary Ann seconded this motion and it carried a unanimous vote of approval.

Dollar Days are in Kearney, MaryAnn Boldt went to help give out snacks. They went around to the rooms and gave envelopes with some money for each Veteran so they could get gifts for their loved ones.

Our Veterans Soup Super went very well. County Government Day was a success story as well. We put on our Veterans Program at the school on Nov. 10 and this program was successful.

Last year around Christmas and Easter, we sent money to the food pantry, this year it was voted to send $75 to the food pantry and we will repeat this donation around Easter.

We want to remind the members with their list of veteran's names that it is time to send the Christmas Card to your veterans.

Any junior who wants to go to the National Jr Convention is asked to do so. It is Feb. 3, 2024.

Our meeting was adjourned with the reading of the prayer by Joyce Brestel and then Shirley Trout adjourned the meeting. After the meeting, we performed the Draping of the Charter, for our members that passed away.

Sincerely, Eileen Wilson, Secretary
