Shotgun Annie’s in Callaway hosted its 8th annual Little Wranglers Toy Drive last month which concluded with a party on Dec. 15. You might say it was the last “hoora” for the business. Owner Candace Burnett announced in a Facebook post that Sunday, Dec. 29, was the final day of business for the restaurant and bar.

Shotgun Annie’s Saloon and Grill opened in early September of 2017, just in time for the annual Kite Flight on Labor Day weekend. Since that time Burnett and her daughter Dana, who operated the business with her, have hosted many events like the annual toy drive and cancer fundraisers which have generated thousands of dollars for various organizations.

Burnett revitalized the empty building and played off the western-themed design to give the business its new name and new life. Candace and Dana are both very familiar with the restaurant business, which quickly gained a big following with their large selection of specialty burgers. The chicken fried cheeseburger with gravy was a huge hit and drew patrons from a large area.

The restaurant has had several owners and different names over the years. As of the end of December Burnett shared on social media that the restaurant was not yet officially for sale, as she was still cleaning out personal items and doing some repairs to the building.

Many area residents also took to social media to share their well wishes with Burnett, and thank her for the great food, good memories, and support for the Callaway community.
