Monday, July 22, is the date for the annual Back-to-School Book Bag/ School Supplies Giveaway, sponsored by the Custer County Salvation Army.

This event will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Broken Bow Municipal Building.

Custer County students from pre-school through 12th grade are welcome to attend, according to project co-chairman, Carol Allen. Students will be able to select backpacks and school supplies while supplies last. All children must be accompanied by an adult and doors will not open until 4:30 p.m.

The Giveaway is aimed at helping Custer County families who otherwise may not be able to cover the cost of back-to-school expenses, Allen said. Backpacks are provided by the Omaha office of the Salvation Army. Funds for school supplies come from the Cliff Luther Endowment, bell ringing donations and community contributions.
