The Custer County 4-H Public Speaking Contest was held on Monday, April 21 at the 4-H Building in Broken Bow. Six entries were made by Custer County 4-H youth in four divisions. Award donors for the contest included Cindy Pearson in Memory of Bill Pearson, Arnold Rotary, and Eugene Holeman Memorial.

The top individuals receiving purple ribbons at the county contest in the Junior, Intermediate, and Senior Speech divisions will represent Custer County at the Premier Communications Event, previously known as the State 4-H Public Speaking Contest. The Premier Communications Event is scheduled for June 20 in Lincoln. Here are the results of the contest: 

NOVICE SPEECH DIVISION

1st Place - Sage Smith, Purple Ribbon & Gold Medal 

JUNIOR SPEECH DIVISION

1st Place - Clancy Martin, Purple Ribbon & Gold Medal 2nd Place - Lucy Peterson, Purple Ribbon & Gold Medal 

INTERMEDIATE SPEECH DIVISION

1st Place - Lucy Martin, Purple Ribbon & Gold Medal 

SENIOR SPEECH DIVISION

1st Place - Lillian Gregoski, Purple Ribbon & Gold Medal 2nd Place - Kaygan Witthuhn, Blue Ribbon & Silver Medal
