Pioneer or Not, it will be a Fun Weekend for All
The 89th Annual Pioneer Picnic will kick off on Friday, June 24, with the rodeo at 7:30 p.m. and a street dance at Shotgun Annie’s from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Then the fun really gets cranked up on Saturday, June 25, with a fun run at 8 a.m. and the parade at 10:45. The afternoon will feature fun and games for all ages with kids races, bouncy houses and other activities, and a cornhole tournament and wine tasting for the grown-ups.
The cook shack, operated by Mrs. Robinson’s Cafe, will open at 11 a.m. and a Tropical Sno stand will be available in the park beginning at noon. The kids carnival, hosted by the Chamber, will begin at 12:30, as does the cornhole tournament at Henry’s Bar, which is a fundraiser for the CWF 4-H group.
The Seven Valleys Museum and log cabin, as well as the swimming pool will be open Saturday. There will be Bingo in the park, a wine tasting at Callaway Market, and live music from Czechland Orchestra at Shotgun Annies from 2-5 p.m.
CHS alumni will gather Saturday evening for a banquet at 6 p.m. followed by a program, both at the school. A street dance at Henry’s will round out the jam-packed day.
Sunday will feature a church service and food in the park, both at 11 a.m. The SVRA rodeo slack will get underway at 10 a.m. Afternoon activities on Sunday will include Bingo, kids carnival, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, and toad and turtle races. The Seven Valleys Rodeo will conclude the weekend long celebration at 7:30 p.m.
Whether you are new to the Callaway area, or have lived here all your life, you will want to take in every bit of the festivities that you can. Above all else, it is a great opportunity just to get together with your friends and neighbors for a little fun - or make new friends and neighbors!
