New Signage Memorializes Tree
Body

On Friday evening June 13, a few members of the Callaway High School class of 1974 met at Morgan Park at 7:00 in the evening. The purpose of the informal meeting was to pay tribute to classmate Dennis Welch, who passed away in 1977 in a house fire.

A red maple tree was planted in the park in the early 1990s as a memorial to Dennis. There has been talk over the years at reunions about how a sign by the tree was needed to recognize the memorial gift. Fifty-one years after graduation the sign has been dedicated. It reads: “In Memory of Dennis Welch 19561977, Gone But Never Forgotten, Callaway High School, Class og 1974.”

The sign was made by School House Graphic Products at the Arnold Public School.
