Legion Auxiliary Holds Informal Meeting

On Sept. 19, 2022, Unit 59 of the Callaway Legion Auxiliary met at the American Legion Hall in Callaway.

Deondra Lashley, our president, called the meeting to order at 6:30. She led with the Pledge of Allegiance. Our Chaplin, Joyce Brestel, read a prayer. Because this was an informal meeting, we had no minutes, no bank information and no news letter. Deondra did read us a Thank You note from Sue Phelps for the help we gave them during the Phelps family fireworks, which they put on for the town in honor of Chris Phelps. The Phelps family did an outstanding job like usual.

State President Vicki Ozenbaugh would like our members to think about a Lifetime Membership for dues. If you want more information please contact Deondra Lashley or MaryAnn Boldt. Our current dues are due now for 2023, as of July and August, please pay the $24.

Jo Chesley ordered things for Trunk or Treat, we just have to wait until they arrive. Eileen made a motion to order 300 Poppies for all the things we will need to do this next year. Joyce seconded the motion and it had a unanimous vote.

We filled out a Unit Assessment for the Vet Home and Gift Shop. This is based on membership of our Unit. The Vet Home will receive $20.25 and the Gift Shop will receive $32.40 which totals $52.65.

At the County Convention there were 17 Auxiliary members present. We had a discussion of the amount of scholarship money we use for our scholarship. As of now, next year's Auxiliary Scholarship will increase to a $250 scholarship.

Fall Roundup is Oct. 16 at St. Paul. The Fall Leadership is Oct. 1 in Seward.

There was no further business so Deondra Lashley adjourned the meeting with the reading of a prayer by Joyce Brestel.
