Earlier this month, three of the CNEDD staff participated in Governor Pillen’s Ag & Economic Development Summit held in Kearney. Over 600 representatives from across the state, and beyond, were present throughout the day.

The day started with the welcome and opening speech from Governor Pillen. Among the many different topics presented were housing and childcare, economic development, tourist attraction, and developing BioEconomy in the State. Nebraska is not a follower when it comes to growing the economy, innovating new ideas, and encouraging prosperity.

Among all the fantastic speakers and many highlights included, Jack Hubbard (Center for Environment and Welfare), Troy Dannen (UNL Athletic Director), and from the CNEDD area Nicole Sedlacek (NPPD Economic Development Manager).

Carla Kimball (CNEDD’s ED) has attended past Summits, but this year was especially good, in her opinion. “This summit seemed more action driven than in the past. Issues were discussed with an outlook of solving rather than just presenting information,” said Kimball. It was almost information overload, there were so many great presenters, and the diversity of topics made the day fly by.
