Abe Hinman, a 1998 graduate from Callaway High School, was hired to take over the social studies classroom and football team vacated by Mark Ernst, who lasted just one year before resigning this spring. Hinman will also be assistant basketball coach. He married Morgan Myers from the CHS class of 1999 on March 22, 2003. The couple moved back this spring when he got the job.

The application is now formal. The Union Pacific Railroad has filed an application to abandon the 19.36 miles of track between Arnold and Stapleton. Callaway depot agent Jim Breedon received the letter on July 16. Officials in both Arnold and Callaway fear that the abandonment of the line between Stapleton and Arnold is only the beginning of the end for the entire 102-mile Kearney Branch.
