The Custer County 4-H Public Speaking Contest was held on Monday, April 18 at the 4-H Building in Broken Bow. Twelve entries were made by Custer County 4-H youth in six divisions. Award donors for the contest included Tom & Mary Langrud, Cindy Pearson in Memory of Bill Pearson, Fowler Haymoving, Arnold Rotary, and the Nebraska Rural Radio Network.

The top individuals in the Intermediate and Senior Speech and PSA divisions will represent Custer County at the State 4-H Public Speaking Contest. The State Contest is scheduled for June 24 in Lincoln. Here are the results of the contest:

NOVICE SPEECH DIVISION

1st Place - Elizabeth Phelps, Purple Ribbon & Gold Medal

2nd Place - Lucy Martin, Blue Ribbon & Silver Medal

3rd Place - Brinley Bachman, Blue Ribbon & Bronze Medal

JUNIOR SPEECH DIVISION

1st Place - Kennedy Eggleston, Purple Ribbon & Gold Medal

INTERMEDIATE SPEECH DIVISION

1st Place - Maysa Jones, Purple Ribbon & Gold Medal

2nd Place - Lillian Gregoski, Blue Ribbon & Silver Medal

3rd Place - Nicole McCaslin, Blue Ribbon & Bronze Medal

4th Place - Ryan McCaslin, Red Ribbon
