The South Loup golf team had another busy week on the links with a varsity meet in North Platte on Thursday and a JV meet in Mullen on Wednesday.

Seeing huge improvement over their team scores at River’s Edge Golf Course two weeks ago, the Bobcats had a team score of 394, which is nearly a 30-stroke improvement on this course.

Individually, the golfers missed making the top 10 and taking home medals by just 5 strokes. Dawson Doggett and Joey Sallach both shot a 94 for the day, each staying very consistent with 47 strokes on the front nine holes and 47 strokes on the back nine holes. Each meet this season they have become more and more consistent with their play and stayed that way. This was 2 strokes better for Doggett and 8 strokes improvement for Sallach from the last time they played this course.

Harper Johnson and senior Grant Hrupek both had a total of 103 strokes for the day, mirroring each other with 55 each on the front nine and 48 on the back nine holes. Johnson had an incredible 17-stroke improvement from last time at this course and Hrupek improved his score by 10 from time playing here.

Freshman Haydn Stretesky had a 106 on the day, again a very consistent day with 53 each round. Last time he played this course, he shot 125, so this meet was a nearly 20-point improvement.

The JV team hit the links at Mullen with Dylan Handley tying for 2nd place with a 45. The Bobcats season is starting to wind down with just one final regular season meet on Wednesday in Mullen. The District D4 tournament will be on Monday, May 15 at Cross Creek in Cambridge.
