Community Comes Together to Celebrate 140 Years
1. The Callaway Catholic Church first held services in the community in 1885, and constructed their first church in 1908. The church has continued to grow with the community.
2. The car show, organized by Lee Bruns, has become a staple at the annual Pioneer Picnic and draws classic autos from all across the state. The shade of Morgan Park is the perfect setting for the public to enjoy looking at the treasures.
3. Pioneer Picnic is also Alumni Weekend in Callaway, and the Class of 1975 gathered to ride on a float in the parade.
4. There were several food options available in Morgan Park following the parade, including a street taco stand hosted by the Callaway High School FCCLA chapter to raise funds for their upcoming trip to nationals.
5. Only in central Nebraska do you see a cow as part of the community festivities - for the always popular cow pie bingo, a fundraiser for the South Loup 4-H Club.
