Two students from Callaway School had their Poppy Poster selected in their class as state winners in the American Legion Auxiliary Nebraska Poppy contest. The winners will go on to the Northwest Division and will be competing with six other states.

Katie Phelps won in Class VIl and was presented with her award during the community 4th of July celebration at the Callaway ball fields. Jocelyn Bailey won in Class VI, but was unable to attend that night as she was at the FCCLA convention in Colorado.

Maggie Birkel’s Americanism Essay “What Does Patriotism Mean To You” won third place in the state of Nebraska American Legion Auxiliary. She was awarded a certificate and a monetary gift.
