Callaway Senior Center Subject Of Internet Discussion
Carla Kimball, Amber Harrison and Christie Pitkin presented information on the Central Nebraska Economic Development District’s digital program during a meeting at the Seven Valleys Senior Center in Callaway on March 1.
The meeting was held in conjunction with the center’s monthly dinner, and had 17 people in attendance.
There was a great deal of discussion on the feasibility of adding internet service to the senior center. Gailord Longmore reported that it would cost $143.15 initially to add the service, with an additional monthly charge of $78.15. No decision was made on the matter.
The senior center plans to work on trying to get grants to help cover the expense of adding the broadband service. Pitkin suggested an alternative might be to have businesses take turns sponsoring a month of service. Longmore will do more research on the matter before any decisions are made.
The senior center is also making plans to host a Walk For Life on May 6, to benefit the Women’s Resource Center in North Platte. More information will be coming in the next couple of weeks on that event.
