Body

Callaway FCCLA competed in one of the year’s competitive events that FCCLA members have the opportunity to participate in on Monday, Jan. 18, at Thedford High School.

STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) events recognize members for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation. Callaway members participated in Sports Nutrition, Event Management, Chapter Service Portfolio and Repurpose and Redesign.

The Repurpose and Redesign team consisted of Chenney Dishman, Tyra Brestel and Angel Johnson. The project for this category requires students to use recycled products to create a brand-new product. The team made bucket chairs out of five gallon buckets, and the chairs will be used in the kindergarten classroom at Callaway Elementary. The team received District Champions and a silver medal for their chair project.

Others competing were Jocelyn Bailey and Carleigh Laible in Sports Nutrition where they received a bronze medal; Skylar Ellison and Jozi Edington in Chapter Service Project Portfolio receiving a bronze medal; and in Event Management, Jazlynn Bechtold and Jaxon Guthrie received a silver medal and District Runner-Up.

All teams qualified for State and will have the opportunity to represent Callaway in Lincoln April 2 - 4.
