The Callaway Chamber of Commerce is hosting a 'Celebrate Callaway' event and inviting the whole community to attend! It will be a potluck dinner with Chamber members being asked to bring a main dish and a salad or dessert. The Chamber will also provide a pulled pork sandwich and beans complementary of Jim & Julianna Jenkins from Skeeter Barnes restaurant. The event is Sunday evening, April 3 at the Callaway Community Center beginning at 5:30 pm.

The Chamber officers said the purpose of the event is three-fold. First, the Chamber and all its members and businesses want to thank everyone for their business and support over the past year. "Every Chamber member wants the community to know how much we appreciate them shopping locally-buying at home" said Chamber president Ken Pitkin. "This is an outstanding community to live and do business in and we want the whole community to show up for the free meal," Chamber treasurer Stacey Guthard added.

Chamber Secretary, Kelsey Wyckoff said "Callaway is moving forward and with many positive things going so we want everyone to join us to Celebrate Callaway."

The second purpose is to welcome those who have moved into the Callaway community in the past three years. Normally this event is held every year or two but due to COVID, this will be the first time it has been held since February 2019. The Chamber has tried to identify as many newcomers to the community as possible and they will each receive a personal invitation in the mail.

"We hope the community will come and meet and welcome our new neighbors," Vice-President Matt Stutzman said.

The third purpose is to award the Citizen of the Year Award that is given yearly by the Chamber of Commerce. "We had numerous nominations this year which shows there are many individuals and organizations in the community that make outstanding contributions to the community," said Pitkin. "We are glad to be able to honor and recognize those in the Callaway community each year that served the community so well."

Recent past winners have been the Seven Valley's Rodeo Association, the Seven Valley's Historical Society, Wanda Johnson, Mike Wendorff, Callaway Good Life Board & Staff.

Mark your calendars and plan to attend Celebrate Callaway on Sunday, April 3 beginning at 5:30 at the Callaway Community Center. You are all invited to the party!
