Bobcat Wrestlers Finish 2025 Strong
After a busy start to the season, the South Loup Bobcat wrestling team is in the middle of a much-needed break over the Christmas holiday. Last week, we posted results for the Southern Valley duals, but did not include results for the Ansley-Litchfield dual quad held on Thursday, Dec. 18 at Ansley.
The Bobcat squad represented well, winning the duals against Overton (29-12) and Ansley-Litchfield (24-12) but fell short in one matchup – Twin Loup (12-54) –in the evening’s challenge.
Against the Overton Eagles, there were five contested weight classes. The first match of the night was at 165 pounds, featuring Paxton Bierman, who prevailed over Mason Dutro by fall at 1:35.
Josiah Coleman represented at 126, winning by tech fall over Haydyn Cantrall. Ben Linden (132 lbs) pinned his man in 2:56, and then Jacob King got the fall at 1:29 to round out South Loup’s wins. Ryan Lords was the lone Bobcat to drop his match, falling to Dalton Muirhead by pin at 3:18.
The remaining points that South Loup tallied came from Noah Hiatt’s win by forfeit at 120. With Overton only grabbing one forfeit and one win, the Bobcats came out the victor in the dual, 29-12.
South Loup also challenged the host team, the Ansley-Litchfield Spartans and had a little tougher time in the contested matches, although they made up for that in forfeits.
King started the round with a quick fall at :34 to Owen Brott at 157 lbs. Coleman raked in the lone win of the dual against the Spartans, with a pin over Kolton Clay at 3:16 in the 120 lb match. Ryan Lords faced off with Kaleb Aguilar at 144 lbs, falling by pin at 3:23. Bierman, Hiatt and Linden each collected forfeits to round out the win against Ansley-Litchfield, 24-12.
The Twin Loup Wolves took the lone win against South Loup for the night by racking up six forfeits and winning three out of the four matches wrestled. South Loup’s single victory came courtesy of Lords, who took on Noah Meister at 150 lbs. He pinned Meister at the 3:26 mark. King, Hiatt, and Linden all dropped their matches by fall, with the final score standing at 54-12 in favor of the Wolves.
With the Ansley-Litchfield and Southern Valley duals in the rearview mirror, the Bobcats are now on break until the new year. On Tuesday, Jan. 6, they travel to Dunning for a triangular hosted by the Sandhills/Thedford Knights at 5:30 p.m. On Friday, Jan. 9, the Bobcats will continue their week on the road, wrestling at the Burwell Invitational at 10 a.m.
