After having to cancel the event the past two years due to Covid, the Blowin The Doors Off BBQ is back! The annual fundraiser for the Oconto Volunteer Fire Department is one of the area’s premiere events of the summer.

If you like good barbecue food, live entertainment, and hanging out with a bunch of great people - Oconto is where you will want to be this Saturday, June 4. Gates will open and serving begins at 5 p.m. and will run until the food is gone. However, the fun and entertainment will continue long after that.

Local favorites South Loup Sunrise will perform from 5 - 8 p.m., with the crowd-pleasing Borderline taking the stage from 8 p.m. to midnight. A raffle drawing and auction to benefit the local fire department will be held at 7 p.m. Items in the raffle drawing include a Traeger Tailgater grill, Henry Golden Boy rifle, $200 gift card to Grocery Kart in Broken Bow, $100 gift card to Gary’s Super Food in Broken Bow, $100 gift card to Kinkaider and a special commemorative homemade knife. The raffle is sponsored by Horizon Ag.

Advance tickets for the all-you-can-eat Blowin The Doors Off BBQ are $17 for adults and are available at Badgley Well Service and Eggleston Oil Company in Oconto, Nebraska State Bank in Callaway and the Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce office in Broken Bow. Tickets at the gate are $20. Children ages 5-12 are $10.

There are some tables and seats available at the site; however, guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs and stay for the evening. This is a family-friendly event for folks of all ages, and after filling your bellies with delicious food everyone is invited to kick up their heels on the dance floor.
