Blast FROM THE PAST PAST
50 YEARS AGO:
Patrick Shamus McNulty, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald McNulty of Oconto, was the first 1976 baby born in the Callaway Hospital. He made his appearance at 1:02 p.m. on Jan. 16.
Allen Meredith of the Seven Valleys Redi-Mix has announced a new service to this area, as he has installed a cement block-making machine. Allen stated that the machine will make several different styles of blocks that will be available at the company headquarters in Callaway.
20 YEARS AGO:
Callaway sophomore runner Chelsey Eng and her parents, Gary and Lisa Eng, flew to Orlando so that Chelsey could run in the Goofy Challenge marathon. Chelsey was part of the Children’s Tumor Foundation team.
Only Class A Kearney JV kept the Bears wrestling team from earning their first team championship of the year. Callaway medaled eight wrestlers at the SEM meet, including a pair of championships by brothers Kurt and Kyle Berg. Travis Stithem and Brock Miller earned second-place medals.
