Auxiliary Announces Girls State Representative
Our Legion Auxiliary meeting was held at the American Legion Hall on March 21, 2022, at 6:30. We opened in normal procedure with the prayer, Star Spangled Banner, Pledge of Allegiance and our Auxiliary Preamble. We read the minutes of the last meeting & the Treasurers report and everything stands approved.
It was announced that the County Convention for Custer County will be held in Callaway, on the second Sunday in September. Both the Auxiliary and the Legion will work together to plan this.
The District Convention was held this last March in Grand Island. The Auxiliary received several placings on the items we entered. We received 1st place on our prayer book, our history book, our centerpieces and our publicity book. We received a 2nd place on our unit handbook. Mary Ann Boldt was the guest speaker at the convention and she informed everyone on our projects for the Christmas Wreaths for Veterans and the Backpacks for Healing Hearts.
We voted to pay the registration fee of $5 for any of our junior members that would want to go to the Ninth Jr. Convention in St. Paul. A thank you note was received from the Callaway Community Foundation for the flamingo which was decorated for the auction. The Draping our Charter will take place next month in honor of the members which we lost this past year.
April is Children and Youth Month, so we will choose one day to go to the school and present various awards and certificates to the students.
The Sons of the American Legion are doing the Easter Bake Sale on April 15 and 16. They have asked the Auxiliary to help provide baked goods for the sale.
The Constitution and the by-laws were reviewed with a few minor changes. The Constitution will be retyped and we will go over them again once this is done.
We have received word that Taylor Ross has been approved to represent Callaway High School as a delegate for the 2022 session of Cornhusker Girls State, to be held June 5-11, 2022.
Pictures of our unit and our projects, which we completed through this year, are being collected and made into a video for the Department Convention in June.
Our meeting was adjourned in regular manner.
