A snowstorm which blew in just before the new year stopped this area from all action on New Years Day. Around six inches of snow fell with temperatures dropping to 10 below and lower.
The Callaway Chamber of Commerce will again sponsor an agriculture day for agri-businessmen and ranchers in the area on Feb. 9. There will be booths and displays, speakers and useful information, door prizes, coffee and donuts, and a lunch.
At least two Callaway businesses were victims of burglary over the weekend.
Callaway True Value owner Ken Pitkin reported numerous tools, some electronic items and four DVDs missing. J.R. Meyer Insurance reported the office and a vault was broken into with numerous items taken, as well as a computer and a personal data assistant.
The annual Callaway Hospital District Foundation Fall Ball has been rescheduled for Jan. 23. Originally scheduled for Nov. 28, the annual fundraiser was postponed because of the blizzard that closed down the region for some time.
